Why did you join XIFI?/What XIFI can bring to your organisation?

FI is also one of the key areas highly supported by the EC and GÉANT to deliver deeper collaboration in all FI areas with the value for the NREN community. Thanks to close cooperation with DANTE on international level, joining experimental infrastructure for Future Internet was obvious choice. We wanted to enlarge the base of services offered by the federation by adding optical and lower layer networks technologies and services. Moreover thanks to the ideal location and backuped high-speed hosting of the GÉANT node directly in our premises our node will extend the entire geographical coverage of the XIFI infrastructure.

What is the expected value/benefits out of your participation to XIFI?

CESNET is one of the leading NRENs in Europe and represents public body in the consortia. Our aim was to extend the range of services that we offer to the academic and research community. We expect to share and our knowledge and experience in optical and photonics domain with the community together with common federation services like infrastructure monitoring, identity federation, L2 circuits and others.
